Who We Are

Shane Alvis

Owner, Shane Alvis, was born and raised in Hendersonville TN. He attended "Little" Beech Elementary, TW Hunter, Beech High School and thus has a strong connection to the community. Shane’s background is electronic engineering, technical and business management with a side of artistic design expression.

He was a part of a medical business startup providing much needed care for children throughout the state of TN. This experience gave him the opportunity to further his ability to provide the highest quality customer service, work with defined budgets, multi-task a large number of projects and assure customer satisfaction was achieved. While Shane enjoyed working with his previous small business, something was missing.

The missing link was being involved with the world he had grown up surrounded by; family and the life of construction. Shane is now blessed with the opportunity to work with his father in the industry that he grew up with and continuing his love of building relationships with customers.

Dan Alvis

Dan Alvis, moved his family to Hendersonville, TN in 1981 and has since called Middle TN home. He is an artist by nature, his artistic background has helped him translate a vision into a reality for customers.

Dan has an extensive background in the construction industry including commercial as well as residential building. Another factor that has helped Dan be successful in this competitive industry are the years he spent working with his mentor and father-in-law, William Dorris. The Dorris family is well-known, in Middle Tennessee, as quality craftsmen, carpenters, as well as leaders in the community (church and schools).

Dan learned the value of measuring twice-cutting once to keep projects on budget and on time. With over 35 years in the construction industry, Dan has seen most any scenarios and knows how to work around difficult situations to keep projects moving to completion.

He is now retired and can often be found sitting at his drawing table meticulously creating elaborate works of art or in his woodshop working on a new project.

Tommy Smith

Tommy has been a close family friend of the Alvis family since high school and officially joined Alvis Remodeling in 2021. With years of hands-on experience in the construction industry, he brings a well-rounded understanding of the building process and a strong appreciation for craftsmanship. Tommy enjoys every phase of a project—from the initial planning and design to the final finishing touches—and takes pride in the details that each specific trade requires.

He thrives on the unique challenges that come with renovation work, where creative problem-solving and precise planning are essential to success. Tommy values the collaborative nature of remodeling and finds great satisfaction in working as part of a skilled, dedicated team. For him, it’s especially rewarding to help turn a client’s vision into a reality and contribute to creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful.

Wilson Smith

Born and raised in the Carolinas, Wilson developed a deep passion for the outdoors early in life. His interest in construction began in high school through Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes taught by Von Starnes, where he discovered a love for building and hands-on work.

In 2017, Wilson moved to Hendersonville to attend Bethel University, where he pursued a degree in Business Management while also competing on the university's fishing team. The move was an easy decision, thanks to having family in the area. It was through this family connection—specifically his uncle, Tommy Smith, who was already established in the industry—that Wilson entered the world of construction.

Since then, Wilson has worked in the construction and remodeling industry, building a career rooted in strong relationships with family and friends, and continuing to nurture his passion for craftsmanship and outdoor living.

Ashton (Alvis) Mitchell

Shane's oldest daughter, Ashton, is our Interior Designer and Office Manager. She handles the initial communication and scheduling for our customers, creates 3D Rendered designs, and assists with your project selections and finishes. She has a creative eye and loves to work with each customers' individual style preferences.

Ashton's creativity started at a very early age, as soon as she could pick up a pencil she was drawing, many times watching and learning from Dan sitting at his kitchen table. Ashton studied Digital Media Animation and Art at East Tennessee State University, before discovering her passion for Design.

More from our happy clients

Alvis Remodeling took an old out dated kitchen and made it into a wonderfully updated one. It’s beautiful and functional. They listened when I told them what I wanted and came up with improvements that I had never thought of. They stayed on budget, on time and cleaned the area every day before they went home. I can’t say enough positive things about them and their work ethics. We intend to do some other projects in the future and will definitely use Alvis Remodeling again.
